MANCHESTER POSTCARDS

Welcome to Manchester Postcards. I have been collecting old postcards of Manchester and it’s suburbs for many years. Born and raised in Eccles I started collecting local views which expanded into Salford and the Manchester Ship Canal. Not too long after I expanded again into collecting old postcards of Manchester trams and Manchester suburbs.
Many of us enjoy looking back in time seeing how our local community has changed over the years. It can rekindle fond childhood memories or just reminds us of a period in our lives spent in an area of Manchester. Time never stands still and it’s not until we take the time to look at old images do we realise that change has happened so quickly. Old photographic postcards from the Edwardian period and later allow us to see quite clearly just how things have changed.
Many people with connections to the Manchester area would argue that change has not always happened for the better and prefer to remember Manchester as it was. Manchester has evolved significantly over the last century and changes to the skyline, landscape, buildings, transport, fashion, people and society in general are there for all to see.
The old postcards shown on this website are from my own collection. While many collectors prefer to keep theirs private I think it is something to be shared. Everyone likes to reminisce and talk about the ‘Good Old Days’. Hopefully the images you will view on this website will do just that. I still actively collect postcards and travel the country looking to uncover some more postcard gems I have never seen before so the website will continue to evolve sp please visit us again in the future.
I welcome your feedback and memories and you can contact me via email or mobile. If you have inherited or have come into possession a collection of old postcards of the Manchester area and would like to sell then please contact me. I am always interested in purchasing any new Manchester postcards I can add to the website.
